LEADERSHIP General Studies

  • Rabbi Nosson Tropper

    Rabbi Tropper has a wealth of experience in both educational leadership and Torah scholarship.  He served as the Founding Dean of Torah High School of San Diego and was a former principal of Mesivta of Allegheny County. Recently, he was the Principal and Rebbi at the well-known Yeshiva Tiferes Yisroel in Brooklyn, N.Y. He is highly regarded for his dedicated leadership, professional approach, and ability to inspire students to maximize their potential and formulate their post-high school plans. Rabbi Tropper is a shining role model of the בקשת האמת, דרך ארץ  and מדות טובות that are the hallmark of a true תלמיד חכם.

STAFF General Studies

Yeshiva of Great Neck provides a robust general studies program, including science, history, mathematics and ELA.

  • Mr. Kambiz Rahbari


    SCIENCE

    Mr. Rahbari brings with him 32 years of teaching experience at both the high school and college levels, along with an extensive background in coaching soccer, track, and wrestling. He has taught all four core science courses at the AP level and possesses a high degree of expertise in Math as well as SAT and ACT test preparation.

    US & GLOBAL HISTORY

    Mr. Scott Colvin, originally from Los Angeles, California, relocated to New York in 2001 and has since built an impressive career spanning 33 years in education. From 2022 to 2025, he served as the Assistant Chairperson of English and Library. With over 30 years of experience, Mr. Colvin has been offering private tutoring in SAT, AP, and Regents preparation, helping countless students achieve academic success.

  • Mr. John Ferrara


    ELA

    Mr. John Ferrara has been a public-school, English teacher for over 25 years in the Sewanhaka Central High School District in Floral Park, New York. He obtained his bachelor's degree at Hofstra University and earned his master's degree at Queens College. He has written several curricula for the Sewanhaka Central High School District focusing on changing the dynamics of teaching English. He has taught the New York State Regents Examination for over 20 years and has a 100% passing rate.

  • Mr. Robert Brusca


    MATHEMATICS

    Mr. Brusca currently holds a Master's Degree in Mathematics, and is a Certified NYS Teacher. He has been teaching at at New Hyde Park Memorial High School for over 6 years. He also taught at P.S./I.S. 78 for 2 years prior to this. Mr. Brusca's clarity and ability to break down complex mathematical concepts makes him a favorite of both students and staff at Yeshiva of Great Neck. He has a firm grasp, as well, on what his students need and where they can use extra help.

Baruch Hashem we've been noticing the maturity and growth in our son. He's really been taking his learning a lot more seriously these days. Much of that credit goes to the Yeshiva, where he spends most of his days.
